The 20 Million Minds Foundation, http://www.20mm.org/, has invited Chancellor Ray Cross and other higher education leaders to discuss online education models at the “Rebooting Higher Education” conference Jan. 8, 2013, at the University of California, Los Angeles. No registration or log in is needed to watch the live webcast from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cross, whose panel will begin about noon, will talk about the University of Wisconsin Flexible Option competency-based model. Others will explain the potential of massive open online courses known as “MOOCs.”
“The availability of MOOCs is not the big transformation in higher education,” Cross says. “The transformation is all about what to do with the MOOCs – how to evaluate them – and how to help students learn, whether through MOOCs or any other tool.”
